The Busiest Crossing on Our Network
Hatta/Al Wajajah is the workhorse of UAE–Oman road traffic — well-equipped, professionally run, and used by more trucks and travelers than any other crossing between the two countries. That popularity is also its main drawback: queues build during the morning push northbound into Oman and at the usual GCC peak windows, Thursday and Friday evenings especially. For most of our Oman shipments it’s still the right choice, since the multi-lane E44 approach and straightforward layout make for faster processing than the alternative once you’re actually at the gate.
When We Use the Alternative Instead
The Al Ain/Buraimi crossing, further south via Khatm Al Shiklah, is a genuinely quieter option — it carries a fraction of Hatta’s traffic and connects toward Oman’s interior rather than the coastal route. We route through it when Hatta is running heavy, or when your pickup point sits closer to Al Ain or eastern Abu Dhabi than to Dubai.
